Volunteer Screening, Application, and Training

Volunteer Screening Process

Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of the work performed by the volunteers, all volunteers are required to undergo a thorough screening process. The screening process includes:

  • Interview with the Director of Volunteers;
  • Application giving employment history, contact information, and specific skills;
  • Written references from at least three individuals;
  • Criminal background checks.

The volunteer application may be faxed, e-mailed, or sent by regular mail. At the time of the interview, an application with an original signature will be required. Volunteers are asked to submit a copy of their driver’s license and automobile insurance with the application. Training

 You will receive great training! Staff members and guest speakers provide instruction on client characteristics, benefit programs, program guidelines, community resources, and advocacy tips.  Email volunteer@guardianshipservices.org for more info.
